History

The Hindi Speaking Union was established under the Hindi Speaking Union Act No. 33 of 1994 and it operates under the aegis of Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage.

The first Patron of HSU is His Excellency Sir Rabindrah Ghurburrun, G.O.S.K, Q.C Vice President of the Republic of Mauritius

HSU encourages the publication, exhibition, distribution and sale of Hindi books/magazines and newspapers

HSU organises competitions in Hindi at various levels

The Hindi Speaking Union promotes Hindi language in its spoken and written forms in Mauritius.

Mission: Promote the Hindi language in its spoken and written forms.

Vision: Promote and encourage the linguistic development among persons having an interest in the Hindi language with special emphasis on cultural, artistic, economic and social perspectives of the language.
