NOTICE OF ELECTION
NOTICE OF ELECTION OF FOUR (4) MEMBERS TO THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF EACH OF THE BHOJPURI SPEAKING UNION, THE CREOLE SPEAKING UNION, THE HINDI SPEAKING UNION, THE MARATHI SPEAKING UNION, THE TAMIL SPEAKING UNION, THE TELUGU SPEAKING UNION AND THE URDU SPEAKING UNION.
Further to the notice of postponement dated 28 June 2021, notice is hereby given to all eligible ordinary members of the Bhojpuri Speaking Union, the Creole Speaking Union, the Hindi Speaking Union, the Marathi Speaking Union, the Tamil Speaking Union, the Telugu Speaking Union and the Urdu Speaking Union that the election of four (4) members to the executive council of each of the seven aforementioned speaking unions will be conducted by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner on Saturday the twentieth (20th) day of November 2021, and that the Returning Officer will receive notices of candidature for the said elections on Thursday the twenty-eighth (28th ) day of October 2021, between the hours of 9 am and 12 (noon) at the Office of the Electoral Commissioner, 4th Floor, MaxCity Building, cr. Remy Ollier and Louis Pasteur Streets, Port Louis.
Forms of Notice of Candidature may be obtained from the Returning Officer, between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm on week days, at the Office of the Electoral Commissioner at the abovementioned address.
Every Notice of Candidature shall –
- i) specify the surname and other names, address and National Identity Card number of the candidate;
- ii) contain a declaration by the candidate that he is qualified, as per section 2 of the Schedule of the respective Speaking Unions Acts, to be elected as member of the, Executive Council of the Speaking Union; and
iii) must be accompanied by the National Identity Card of the candidate and be delivered to the Returning Officer between the said hours of 9 am and 12 (noon) on 28 October 2021.
Notices of Candidature received by post, fax or otherwise will not be considered.
